The ProblemSolver
What is the ProblemSolver test?
The ProblemSolver test consists of two parts:
- The duplication ability (from the verb “to duplicate—to make an exact copy of something”) measures the applicant’s ability to understand announcements, orders, guidelines, and recommendations. It is also an indication of his/her ability to observe well, execute plans accurately, assess situations correctly, and make the right decisions.
- The problem-solving ability measures the intellectual and cognitive ability of the applicant to solve problems based on 4 parameters:
- His/her logical thinking skills: can he/she analyze a situation objectively and come up with a sensible solution? This requires the use of reasoning skills to study a problem step by step and draw a calculated, rational conclusion about how to proceed.
- His/her intellectual thinking skills: can he/she think critically, conduct research, or reason abstractly? This differs somewhat from logical thinking in that it elicits a concrete opinion based on a person’s knowledge, rather than just logic.
- His/her vocabulary skills: can he/she read, understand, and use the words in a particular language?
- His/her mathematical skills: can he/she add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers?
